by Michael Gougis

Alpinestars threw a celebration of 60 years of creating protective gear on Thursday night (September 21) in downtown Los Angeles. Held at the Bike Shed Moto Co., celebrities, representatives from the motorsports industry, and racers from a variety of racing disciplines were on hand, as was Gabriele Mazzarolo, President and CEO of Alpinestars.

On hand were a variety of noteworthy road racing bikes. Founded in 1963 in Asolo, Italy by Sante Mazzarolo, the company started its motorsports journey by producing motocross and then motorcycle road racing boots. In the decades since, it has expanded its offerings to head-to-toe coverage for on-road and off-road motorcycle riding and racing, as well as protective gear for automobile racing, mountain biking and casual wear.

This picture represents 37 500cc Grand Prix race wins, three 500cc GP World Championships, six runner-up finishes in the Championship and three third-place finishes in the points at the end of the year.
