Álex Márquez feeling good ahead of Silverstone return
Álex Márquez is in upbeat mood for this weekend’s British Grand Prix as Silverstone once again prepares to play host to the MotoGP paddock.
With the race missing from last year’s schedule, the premier class will reacquaint themselves with a venue that the LCR Honda CASTROL man feels suits his riding style perfectly.
Álex arrives full of confidence after a positive two-race stay in Austria where he posted back-to-back top 10 finishes. Having also progressed to Q2 in the Austrian GP and demonstrated speed in both dry and wet conditions, the Spaniard believes he is trending in the right direction and is keen to get back to work with his team.
“Unfortunately we weren’t able to race at Silverstone last year, so it will be really nice be back again. When we were last there in 2019 the asphalt was new and the track was really fast, so it will be interesting to see the condition of the surface this time. The layout fits my riding style. You need a lot of flow to be fast – you need to keep up your momentum through the corners. I go there really motivated and with a lot of confidence after two positive weekends at Red Bull Ring, which is really important. And it will be good to work with my team again. Since the back-to-back race weekends in Austria I’ve missed them!”- Álex Márquez
