Alex Márquez excited to be back at the Argentina GP

Álex Márquez is in an upbeat mood ahead of the Argentina GP which returns to the MotoGP calendar for the first time in three years.

With Honda bikes having traditionally fared well at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit in Santiago del Estero, the LCR Honda CASTROL rider is hoping for a competitive showing this weekend in the first of back-to-back races with Austin

The Spaniard battled hard to secure his first World Championship points of 2022 in Indonesia last time out. Alex claimed 13th position in Mandalika despite difficult conditions and teething problems with the new RC213v, but is confident of improvement at a circuit where he claimed a Moto2 podium the last time GP racing visited back in 2019.

“After three years without this race, which is one of my favourites, it’s really nice to be back. It’s a race track that I always enjoy a lot. Normally the grip is quite low, so it will be important to understand everything after a difficult weekend in Indonesia. We need to see what we need to focus on and it will also be important to make some tests with bike set-up to understand things. It will be nice to have our normal tyres again, so we can understand everything and try to make a good weekend.

I think we have a good opportunity. There are still 19 races to go, so even if we didn’t start the season with the feeling we wanted, we now have a great opportunity to turn things around. We have a busy two weeks ahead, with races in Argentina and Texas. It will be really important for us to come from those races to Europe with a good feeling and great results.” – Álex Márquez
